NYH201 is isolated from yet another tropical medicinal plant that is commonly consumed by the public in the Southeast Asia Region. It induces cyclic AMP production and PKA activation by activating GLP-1 Receptor. Low level of cyclic AMP and PKA activity highly correlated with aging-related and metabolic diseases including but not limited to atherosclerosis, aging, fatty liver, diabetes, and obesity                                            . Nanyang Biologics together with scientists in Nanyang Biologics-NTU joint laboratory are now further developing small molecules for the management of metabolic diseases.
